Well, Now that I wrote about my reasons to start this blog , and what is this test about, my preparation plans, and the material that I’m using, I would like to write about what have I done so far, and where I am in this moment, so I can start to make posts in present time. I will divide this story in time periods, to make it easier to organize.
MAY: I first found out that I had to start my GMAT preparation about in the middle of this month. I was really angry to find out that I had to start my preparation right away in order to have enough time to prepare in a good way, and also to have enough time to repeat the test in case that I got a bad score. The reason why this made me angry, is because at that time, I was taking French lessons, and this time, I was doing a great job with this language, but right now GMAT is more urgent than French =( … anyway, someday I will finish my French studies.
JUNE: After making the decision between French and GMAT (which took me about 15 days) I started my research over GMAT. I started it on the internet, forums and books; I also started to do some research about the GRE, because about that time I thought that I had to take the GMAT and the GRE. I couldn’t dedicate too much time to this labor, because between work and putting everything in order in my new home I was kind of busy, but after some weeks, I was able to get a good amount of information together, and it helped me to get a good idea of what this test was about.
After this research, I drew some conclusions:
In Math, GMAT is harder than GRE.
In Verbal, GRE is harder than GMAT.
This is not good for me, since math is my weakest are and I enjoy learning verbal stuff more than math stuff.
The good thing is that those days I found out that I had no need to take the GRE. Now I only have to prepare for one test. This is great, because if GMAT alone is hard, now imagine preparing for two tests.
I also went to the Kaplan institute in Bogotá, I first thought that this could be a really good place for my preparation, but the price was really high (USD$799), and the method didn’t convinced me. I am not saying that Kaplan is bad, I have their books which I love but the Bogotá center didn’t convinced me very much, so I decided to prepare myself.
JULY: after all this initial research and approaches to the test, I started to organize all the information that I downloaded from different sites, read all this info and make my flashcards of these materials. I also took a diagnose test to see how I was doing and off course it came out horrible, first because I had no idea of how approach some type of questions, and also my math is terrible way, but the good thing about it is that this test reinforced the idea that before preparing too much for the questions I have to build good bases in order to get a good score. That is how my preparation plan came out.
In this month I also started my preparation with arithmetic’s and this is the point where I am in the present moment.

Bueno, ahora que ya he escrito sobre mis rezones para iniciar este blog, sobre de que trata este examen, mis planes de preparación y el material que estoy usando, me gustaría relatar que he hecho hasta ahora y en donde estoy en este momento para así poder empezar a crear mensajes de manera presente. Dividiré esta historia en periodos de tiempo, para así hacerlo mas fácil de organizar.
MAYO: En este mes me di cuenta que tenia que empezar mi preparación para el GMAT. Esto me hizo sentir muy molesta, ya que debía empezar la preparación lo mas pronto posible para así tener la suficiente cantidad de tiempo para prepararme solidamente y además tener suficiente tiempo para repetir el examen en caso que me fuera mal. La razón por la cual me sentí molesta, fue por que en ese momento estaba en clases de Francés y me estaba yendo muy bien, pero en este momento GMAT es mas urgente que Francés =(… de todas formas algún día terminare mis estudios de este idioma.
JUNIO: después de mi decisión entre Francés y GMAT (la cual me tomo como 15 días) empecé mi investigación sobre este examen, la cual inicie en Internet, foros y libros; además empecé a investigar sobre el GRE, ya que en esa época creía que tenia que hacer el GRE también. Desafortunadamente no pude dedicar mucho tiempo a esta labor, ya que entre el trabajo y poner todo en orden en mi nuevo hogar, estaba medio ocupada, pero después de algunas semanas, pude reunir una buena cantidad de información, y esto me ayudo a tener una buena idea de que se trataba este examen.
Después de mi investigación, llegue a algunas conclusiones:
En matemáticas, GMAT es más difícil que el GRE.
En la parte verbal, GRE es más difícil que el GMAT.
Esto en realidad no es bueno para mi, ya que matemáticas es mi área mas sensible, y disfruto mas aprendiendo cosas verbales.
Además de esto, fui al instituto Kaplan de Bogota, ya que al principio creí que este seria un buen sitio para empezar una buena preparación, pero el precio es muy alto (USD $ 799) y además, el método no me convenció. No es que este diciendo que Kaplan sea malo, al contrario, yo tengo sus libros y me gustan mucho y todo, pero el centro de preparación de Bogota no me convenció de a mucho, así que decidí prepararme yo misma.
JULIO: Después de toda esta investigación inicial, y mis acercamientos al examen, empecé a organizar la información que baje de distintos sitios, leerla y hacer notas. También tome un examen de diagnostico para ver como estaba y obviamente salio terrible, primero por que no sabia muy bien como tomar algunos tipos de preguntas, y además mis matemáticas estaban muy mal, pero lo bueno es que este examen de diagnostico reforzó mi idea que antes de prepararme mucho en los distintos tipos de preguntas, debía crear buenas bases para así obtener un buen resultado, y así fue como mi plan de preparación fue trazado.
En este mes además, inicie mi preparación en aritmética y este es el punto en donde estoy ahora mismo.
